Feeding Coventry
Feeding Coventry is an independent charity working to end food poverty in Coventry, opened in March 2020 just before the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our projects aim to alleviate poverty and prevent hunger by addressing both immediate needs and underlying causes. We strive to empower our beneficiaries to improve their lives, prospects, health and wellbeing, regardless of age, income or background. Based in the most deprived area of Coventry and amongst the UK's 7% most deprived ones, as demonstrated by the Index of Multiple Deprivation, our Social Supermarket offers members a bag of healthy, nutritious fresh food along with store cupboard essentials for a small membership cost. Besides
offering a dignified shopping experience, we support members holistically by connecting them to job, administrative and family support services, and through opportunities to engage in health and wellbeing activities. We are now feeding and actively supporting between 300-400 people a week.
